Starting daycare is a big milestone for both children and parents. Whether it’s your child’s first time away from home or your first experience navigating the early learning system, it’s normal to feel a mix of excitement and anxiety. The key to a smooth transition lies in preparation — emotionally, mentally, and logistically. If you’re looking for a high-quality daycare in Edmondson Park, Macquarie Fields, or Bardia, this guide is tailored to help you get started the right way.
Preparing your child for daycare is all about helping them feel secure, confident, and excited about their new environment. Studies show that children who experience a gradual transition into childcare are more likely to develop healthy social skills and form stronger attachments with educators.
At Ignite Early Learning Centre, preparation is a two-way street — we work hand-in-hand with parents to create a nurturing and personalised transition plan.
Children, particularly toddlers and preschoolers, thrive on routine and familiarity. Here’s how to emotionally prepare your child:
Aside from emotional prep, here are the practical things you can do:
Choosing the right daycare is crucial. The best centres go beyond child-minding—they help children develop socially, emotionally, and intellectually. At Ignite Early Learning Centre, you can expect:
Feature | Description |
Qualified Educators | Trained and passionate about early childhood development |
Learning Programs | Tailored programs for each age group |
Safety Standards | Secure premises, background-checked staff, and hygiene protocols |
Parent Communication | Daily updates, open-door policy, and parent events |
We’ve compiled some helpful tips that can assist you and you little one during their first week.
While educators handle the in-centre care, parents have a critical role to play:
Start at least 2–3 weeks in advance. Introduce the idea gradually and positively.
Readiness isn’t just age—it’s also about behaviour. If they’re showing curiosity, independence, or playing with peers, it’s a good sign.
Adjustment takes time. Open communication with educators and patience go a long way.
Validate their feelings, keep routines consistent, and avoid showing guilt. Most children adapt with time.
Our family-like environment, tailored learning programs, and open communication help us stand out.
Starting daycare is a major life step — for children and parents alike. Preparation is the key to easing the transition. At Ignite Early Learning Centre, we understand the emotions involved and work with families to create a welcoming, secure, and engaging environment.
Whether you’re preparing weeks in advance or making a last-minute decision, remember: your child is more capable than you think—and with the right support, they’ll thrive.

My children have been attending Ignite since the centre was opened. The educators and management have been very caring and involved in their job. The owner and the director are amazing and attend very promptly my all requests. The educators are very lovely and caring. I strongly recommend this childcare.
I would highly recommend families to enrol their children in this beautiful service. Ignite Early Learning Centre has a very warm and inviting environment for all families and children; the learning rooms are all filled with great resources and programs designed for the children’s developmental needs. I have been in the centre because I have friends who work there and I am very impressed with the pleasing and friendly educators working with the children and the management who are kind, down to earth and willing to help families at all times. It is also amazing to see the children’s daily activities and experiences which will help them grow as confident, responsible and caring children.
We have been going for almost a year now. Much much better than other centres such as the ones next door at bardia. Attitude to customer service, parents requests and concerns are the standouts. Staff are well trained and professional. Thry don’t whinge and have an attitude like many centres. Recommended by a parents who goes there as well. We recommend as well. Centre itself looks great, safe and tidy. The owner is the key. She is active in managing the centre.
